1. Favourite Musical moment Ever.
Hard to pick just one but a definite favourite is going to see Toots and The Maytals at Glastonbury 2004. I had just left The Other Stage half way through a disappointing live set by a well known UK dance act, when a mate suggested we go see Toots. It was a real turning point for me when I realised festivals and going out didn’t just have to be about dance music, here was a classic old reggae band with more life, moves, funk and soul than I had ever seen before.
2. Flip that, your worst or most embarrassing moment that you will share with us.
I had a one off DJ gig in a South West London club, it was peak time and it wasn’t my usual crowd but my set was going down well. At the time I was DJing with a mixture of vinyl and CDs, I was playing a big Groove Armada tune I had on vinyl and the place was jumping. Unknown to me the CD trays were set up in such a way that if you ejected them the tray shot out and knocked the vinyl arm and needle off the record. There was complete silence and I had nothing lined up to play next, the whole crowd turned and looked at me. I panicked and put on the first CD I could find and pressed play, by pure luck and with an unplanned sense of irony the first track on the CD was ‘Rudy’ by The Specials, which starts with the line ‘Stop your messing around’, with that the moment was saved.
3. Can any other Bears dance or is it just a Polar genre skill set?
It’s a hotly contested issue in the bear community and one that I tend to stay out of. My sources tell me that the only thing they can confirm is that polar bears can dance, just not in front of people or cameras.
